The deputies of Hernando County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about a possible animal abandonment in an unmanned storage unit in the City of Brooksville. Upon arriving at the location, the rescue officers could hear the distressed cries of several barking dogs coming from the padlocked facility.

The officers eventually had to use bolt cutters to get to the dogs. Once inside the unit, they were shocked to find 7 sickly dogs stacked in metal cages in the tiny unventilated room without food or water. One dog was struggling on a very short chain, while 2 Chihuahuas, a mama dog and her 3 puppies were near suffocation at the time of rescue.

The dogs are now being evaluated by the Hernando County Animal Services. While investigating, the cops found out that the culprit gained access to the storage facility by illegal means. The evil person made sure that the dogs would remain out of reach and slowly starve or suffocate to their deaths.
